British homewares and furniture retailer Habitat, founded by Sir Terence Conran in 1964 and acquired by IKEA in 1992, reinvested in its brand in 1997 and asked designer Tom Dixon to rebuild its in-house design team.
As Design Manager I carried responsibility over lighting, kitchen accessories, and home accessories categories. This included designing products, commissioning external designers, concepting collections, and sourcing throughout Europe and Asia.
Notable products include LED clock and Capsule lamp; notable projects include Living Legends and Technocraft, notable commissions include Ettore Sottsass and Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec.
